SpecOps, Spies, & Military Watches In Movies
Watches play a significant role in films, and an accurate depiction of a character often includes a watch they might actually wear. This is especially true in movies focusing on the military and intelligence. Whether we’re talking about mercenaries, arms dealers, CIA Officers, or Navy SEALs, a thoughtfully selected timepiece can complement a fictional character, lending a sense of credibility and bridging the gap between reality and Hollywood—especially for those in the know.
Watches in popular films are also influential. Believe it or not, we know plenty of real spies and operators whose watch choices were influenced by movies. Take for example the Omega Seamaster and its connection to James Bond. Even though Omega pays big bucks to be the watch of choice for 007, the Seamaster has still become a go-to option for real-life intelligence officers, a classic case of life imitating art and vice versa.
In our new video on the W.O.E. YouTube channel, we discuss some of the most accurate and intriguing depictions of watches in movies relevant to our community.

Who is narrating the youtube videos? Great job. The guy sounds exactly like Mel Gibson. Lets hope its a sound alike or those Mossad videos are gonna be Intresting 😂
Missed opportunity to mention Gibbs’s Resco Gen 1 Patriot watch and McGee’s Breitling Premier B01 Chronograph in NCIS and Magnum’s another watch, the Sea Quartz 30. And it’s a comedy show but Tacoma FD has some of the cast wearing Casios (some of them even has a MRW200H) and a Seiko
On a more personal note, I mostly wear my Casio MRW200H-1BV. Definitely the cheapest watch a federal agent, a spy, a cop or a soldier would wear and yet so lowkey. I took it swimming with me bunch of times and it got knocked around like a bit and it still keeps fantastic time! Great and reliable little thing. Goes to show you don’t have to shell out your entire life savings for a Rolex or a Omega or some expensive watch when a Casio, Armitron or a Timex would just do the same job as the Submariner and Breitling. So it’s fitting Tacoma FD has some of the main characters who are firefighters wearing the MRW200H watches.
